Matthew O’Connell

The Lab Co-Founder

Matthew brings a lifelong passion for basketball along with extensive experience in playing, coaching, and physical rehabilitation, earning his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Duke University.

His dedication to the game began in Southern California, where he spent daily recesses working on ball handling and shooting drills. Though not always the most athletic player on the court, Matthew relied on intelligence and finesse to fuel a career that earned accolades including selection to the Adidas Phenom Top 150 Camp, high school All-County honors, and junior college basketball at Cuesta College in California.

Since 2015, his journey has taken him to North Carolina, where he has coached and developed youth players. Matthew believes leading with integrity and intensity are essential to building players who contribute to a winning culture through focus and development.
